Research

At the Unit of Hultgren Laboratory for Materials Characterisation is highly active in research, with many of our research activities also involving developing research methods.

Scanning electron micrograph of an interfacial region in a functional-gradient WC-Ti-Co Cemented Carbide composite. The sample has been deep-etched to reveal the 3D microstructure. Grains in blue represent the WC and the red grains represent the (Ti,W)C gamma phase. Research activities

Our research activities are conducted:

Within Centres that we coordinate or are partners in (e.g. NEXT and MMD ) as well within larger research programmes such as steel for a fossil-free future .
On an individual basis. All members of the unit have research activities, which are described under each person's individual profile page .

Some of our work also involves the development of research methods.
