Optimization of the ingot casting process by minimising macrosegregation and porosity

OPTGÖT

Macrosegregation and porosity that occur during ingot solidification limit the material yield ingot casting. The goal of the project is to increase understanding of the occurrence of these defects and then develop technology to minimise the problem. The expected effect is increased yield from the ingot, which in addition to cost benefits also reduces energy use and, thus, greenhouse gas emissions.
